  • 450 ml of milk
  • 1 tablespoon BAM bourbon vanilla
  • 60 g butter (cubed)

For filling and decorating:

  • 2 bananas
  • 250 ml whipping cream
  • Ground peanuts (optional, for sprinkling)

Banana Cream Pie with Vanilla Custard & Whipped Cream ?? A classic dessert that impresses with its simplicity and rich flavor. A crunchy cookie crust, silky vanilla custard with BAM bourbon vanilla, fresh bananas, and fluffy whipped cream. A recipe that blends homestyle comfort with elegance – perfect for any occasion. ? Ingredients For the crust: 200 g cookies 150 g melted butter For the custard: 4 egg yolks 100 g sugar 30 g cornstarch Pinch of salt 450 ml milk 1 tbsp BAM bourbon vanilla 60 g butter (cubed) For filling & topping: 2 bananas 250 ml heavy cream (for whipping) Ground peanuts (optional, for garnish) ?‍? Instructions 1. Prepare the crust: Grind the cookies into fine crumbs and mix with melted butter. Press evenly into the bottom and sides of a 22 cm (9-inch) pie dish. Bake at 180 °C (350 °F) for about 10 minutes. Cool completely. 2. Vanilla custard: In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Bring the milk to a boil. Temper the egg mixture with a bit of hot milk, then pour everything back into the saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 3–4 minutes). Remove from heat, stir in BAM bourbon vanilla and butter cubes until smooth. 3. Assemble the pie: Layer sliced bananas over the cooled crust. Pour the custard on top and spread evenly. Cover with plastic wrap (touching the surface) and chill overnight to set. 4. The next day: Whip the cream to stiff peaks. Stir well, then spread the mixture evenly over the base and edges of the pie pan (approx. 22 cm in diameter).

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 10 minutes. Cool.

Vanilla cream:

In a bowl, mix the egg yolks, sugar, starch and a pinch of salt.

Boil the milk. Once boiling, pour a little of the hot milk into the egg yolk mixture (to temper it), then pour it all back into the pot.

Stir over a medium heat for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens into a cream.

Remove from the heat and stir in the BAM bourbon vanilla and 60 g of cubed butter. Stir until the butter is completely melted.

Assembling the pie:

Garnish the baked and cooled biscuit base with banana slices.

Pour the prepared vanilla cream over the bananas.

Cover the cream with a transparent film (it should touch the surface) and place in the fridge overnight to set well.

The next day:

Whip the cream until firm peaks form.

Top the pie with whipped cream, garnish with banana slices and sprinkle with ground peanuts for extra texture and flavour.
